The Mississippi Miracles, after starting the season 2-6, became one of the better teams in the league. The Miracles earned a first round bye. With teams dropping out of the playoffs, the Waco Wranglers, who won just two games all year, were brought in to face the Miracles. After an easy win, the Miracles' playoff opponent was again changed for the quarterfinals. Nine days after the Wranglers game, Mississippi had to travel to Wilmington, and ended up losing by eighteen.
